Yet not everyone wants to head to the beach or visit art-filled cities, and some prefer to enjoy the mountains a little longer before the snow completely disappears… or take the opportunity to stroll among the blossoms and breathe clean air.

Where to Ski Still on Easter 2026
The season isn’t over yet. In fact, for many skiers April is the best month: settled snow, shorter lines, high sun. Here are five areas that are really worth heading to for the Easter weekend.
Alta Badia
On April 5 and 6, Alta Badia doesn’t simply close the season; it celebrates with a masked weekend, or nearly so. The Skicarousel Vintage Party brings back tight skis, neon jumpsuits, and bulky wool sweaters, with an official race on the La Para slope where carving is forbidden and the winner is the one who embodies the style of the 1980s.
On Saturday evening La Villa becomes pedestrian with live music, and on Sunday the grand finale moves to Corvara with kiosks, drinks, and more music. It’s one of those events that seems absurd until you’re there, and then you understand why people come back every year.
Val Gardena
Until April 6 Val Gardena closes the season with the Winter Finals, a week that transforms the Sellaronda circuit into something closer to a festival than a normal season end. The detail that alone justifies the trip: a PistenBully transformed into an itinerant console that brings live music directly onto the Dantercëpies slopes.
On Saturday April 4, there’s the Weißwurst Party at Baita Salei and the Lockenfest in Plan de Gralba, where gravity is challenged as riders try to cross a puddle with skis on. On Sunday April 5 the grand finale takes place in Selva with Fargetta and Albertino.
Madonna di Campiglio
From April 3 to 6 Madonna di Campiglio hosts the second edition of the Ursus Spring Break, which transforms the snowpark into the freestyle culture’s headquarters. World-class snowboarders and freeskiers challenge themselves in the Red Bull Limbollie and the Cinelli x Nitro Big Air, but the program also includes lighter moments, such as the free Lion D concert at Rifugio Stoppani on Saturday, April 4.
On Monday the Nitro Rail Jam—Cash for Trick rewards the best snowboard tricks. For those who want to blend technique, style, and live music, this is probably the most complete weekend of the Easter holiday.
Cortina d’Ampezzo
In Cortina things don’t close early. The remain open until May 3, while Tofana and Lagazuoi-5 Torri close on April 12 and April 6 respectively. Recent snowfalls have left an excellent base and longer days do the rest.
La Thuile
From April 3 to 4, La Thuile hosts the Egg Race, an event that has existed for more than forty years and shows no signs of aging. It is open to all, big and small, and at the end of the descent the prize ceremony becomes a collective distribution of giant chocolate eggs. The revenue from registrations goes entirely to UNICEF. A race that counts double: for those who descend and for those who receive.
Places to walk among the spring flowers
For those who prefer trails and the spring air, the Apennines and the northern mountains offer scenes that don’t last long and for this reason it’s worth going now.
Campo Imperatore in Abruzzo, the crocus bloom
The Gran Sasso plateau is one of those places you must see at least once in a lifetime when the crocuses are in bloom. Between March and April, as the snow retreats, thousands of violet flowers rise from the still-cold and damp ground, carpeting the meadows for miles. The exact timing changes every year and the peak tends to fall toward the end of April, but you can already witness some blooms from the first days of the month.
Altopiano di Lavarone and Val di Rabbi, the crocuses of Trentino
Even Trentino has its own crocus meadows, less known but just as spectacular. Between late March and April, the snow-free meadows of the Altopiano di Lavarone and Luserna fill with carpets of white, purple, and lilac.
The Val di Rabbi, in the Stelvio National Park, is another destination to mark on the list: the Sentiero dei masi is accessible, scenic, and suitable even for non-expert hikers. For those seeking something closer to the Dolomites, the trails above Moena in Val di Fassa offer similar blooms with the peaks forming a backdrop.
Valle del Bitto di Albaredo, crocuses in Valtellina
Starting from Morbegno toward the Passo San Marco, after Albaredo, a side road climbs to a clearing where you park. From there, a twenty-minute walk leads to the plains of Corte Grande-Corte Grassa.
It is here that the crocus bloom is most impressive, with Monte Pedena and Monte Fioraro still snow-capped in the background. The contrast between the violet carpet and the white peaks is the kind of scene that’s hard to forget.

The itinerary is truly suitable for everyone.
Cascate Monte Gelato in Lazio
In the Treja Valley Park, a few kilometers from Rome, the path leading to the Cascate di Monte Gelato is perhaps one of the most underrated trails in Central Italy. The route follows the river through forests that this time of year burst with greenery, with glimpses of the water appearing suddenly among the trees. With moderate difficulty, it’s the perfect day trip from Rome, but it’s worth the journey even from farther away.
