Italy’s small historic towns take center stage on television with the new edition of “Il Borgo dei Borghi”, the competition that every year shines a light on the country’s most distinctive locales: starting October 18, 2026, on Rai 3, the fourteenth edition has kicked off, guiding the audience to discover twenty villages, one for each region.
This year as well the competition takes place within Kilimangiaro, the show hosted by Camila Raznovich, which every Sunday will present a new candidate through a dedicated segment on its distinctive features.
Borgo dei Borghi 2027: How the Competition Works
The mechanism of “Il Borgo dei Borghi” involves both the television audience and a panel of experts. The twenty selected towns, one for each region, are introduced during the Sunday episodes of Kilimangiaro, each episode dedicated to a locality.
Viewers can participate in the competition by casting their vote online. The final result does not depend solely on the public’s choices: the ranking is determined by combining the online votes with the assessments of the expert jury.
How to Vote for Your Favorite Village
Participating in Il Borgo dei Borghi 2027 is simple and free: if you wish to support one of the competing localities you must use Rai’s official portal, following a few steps.
First you need to register or sign in to the site using your Rai Account. Once you are logged in, you will be able to vote for the village featured in the show, after the corresponding episode has aired.
The winner’s announcement is scheduled for the Easter period, when the live final will be broadcast. It will be on that occasion that the village winning the title of Italy’s Most Beautiful Village 2027 will be announced.

The last winner, in 2026, was Cingoli, in the Marche. In 2025 the accolade went to Militello in Val di Catania, in Sicily, while in 2024 it had triumphed Peccioli, in Tuscany. The 2023 edition crowned Ronciglione, in Lazio, followed in 2022 by Soave, in Veneto, and in 2021 by Tropea, in Calabria.
Among the winners of earlier editions are also Bobbio, in Emilia-Romagna, in 2019; Gradara, in the Marche region, and Petralia Soprana, in Sicily, in 2018; Venzone, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in 2017; Sambuca di Sicilia in 2016; Montalbano Elicona in 2015 and Gangi in 2014.
