The Whole Truth About My Lies: Filming Locations of the Netflix TV Series

August 28, 2026

From a Spanish series that follows a group of friends hitting the road in a van for a bachelorette party “on the road,” you can only expect breathtaking settings and visuals that are a true treat for the eyes.

The locations of The Truth About My Lies do not disappoint these expectations: the series, adapted from the best-selling novel by Elísabet Benavent, available on Netflix from August 28, 2026, was filmed in one of Spain’s most spectacular regions in terms of landscapes, a place that each summer draws millions of tourists drawn to the sea, and also admired for its vibrant cultural life and nightlife.

What it’s about

Coco (Itziar Manero) is twenty-eight, has a job she loves at an art gallery, and an apartment in one of Madrid’s most exclusive neighborhoods that she shares with Marín (Daniel Ibáñez). The two are longtime friends; Marín was engaged to one of Coco’s best friends, Aroa, and for years Coco hides the true feelings she harbors for him behind the lie of still being in love with her ex. It is only when the rest of the group decide to set off in a caravan for the bachelorette party of one of them, Blanca, that Coco is forced to reveal what she really feels for Marín: the forced cohabitation compels everyone to reckon with rivalries, emotions, hidden fragilities, as well as moodiness and small romantic dramas that fans of the genre know all too well.

Where the series was filmed

The Netflix teen drama adapted from Elísabet Benavent’s novel was shot, as confirmed by a press release from the Instituto de las Industrias Culturales y las Artes, in the region of Murcia: in southeastern Spain, it is an area with over 250 kilometers of coastline, washed by two seas (the Mediterranean Sea and the so-called “Mar Menor”) and with a mild climate that makes it a year-round destination for sunbathers, swimming, diving, and water sports enthusiasts.

The locations of The Truth About My Lies fully reflect the vacation atmosphere, an almost perpetual summer, that can be felt here.

The Costa Cálida

Among the places where the series was filmed, several beaches along the Costa Cálida stand out as some of the most beautiful in all of Spain. On screen, it’s easy to recognize Playa de Percheles, the Rihuete Beach, and Bahía.

More secluded and thus pristine and perfect for reconnecting with nature or simply relaxing in total silence, also Cala de Bolnuevo, a small bay of volcanic origin where the wind has carved the sandstone rocks for centuries, served as the set for The Truth About My Lies.

Mazarrón

The municipality of Mazarrón is the one that was most involved in the series’ filming. Among the locations chosen is the network of urban and extra-urban roads that links it with the nearby town of Lorca: not surprising given that the series is essentially a road trip.

Some scenes were reportedly filmed at Hotel Bahía, one of Mazarrón’s seaside hotels. The latter, along with the harbor area where you can still see the former defensive towers of the city, is the center of Mazarrón’s nightlife.

The historic center, meanwhile, does not lack artistic-cultural gems such as the Church of San Andrés with its iconic mudéjar-style coffered ceiling, the Convento de la Purísima, and the ruins of Vélez Castle.
