And what if a wellness vacation didn’t have a single formula? From mountain-facing pools to saunas, and even those just steps from a natural lake where you can relax. In South Tyrol all of this is possible, and the story is told by the data from the South Tyrol Wellness Report 2026 published by SuedtirolWellness, which examined 722 hotels distributed across the province, thoroughly studying the phenomenon.
Wellness Vacations in South Tyrol: the study
The wellness element is, in fact, a key component of the world of hospitality in South Tyrol, but not all hotels interpret the concept (and therefore the services) in the same way. The new report from SuedtirolWellness aims to bring order to this variety. The survey, conducted in August 2026 using publicly available information, identified 722 properties with wellness-related characteristics, located in 101 of the province’s 116 municipalities.
The hotels were divided into three groups. In 107 cases wellness is a central element of the property’s identity; another 138 hotels show a specialization in spa or wellness services. The largest group, comprising 477 hotels, includes properties that combine a high-quality offering of pools with saunas or other heat-focused spaces, together with relaxation areas or specific treatments. The most interesting data for travelers concerns the diverse possibilities for stays. Pools with a view are the most numerous category among the four types examined. They are followed by private-wellness options, properties with natural waters, and those that provide distinct spaces for adults and families.
Where to find hotels with panoramic pools in South Tyrol
There are at least 281 South Tyrolean hotels that, according to the South Tyrol Wellness Report 2026, offer a panoramic-view pool or a solution such as an infinity pool, a rooftop pool, or a sky pool. It is the highest number among the four wellness forms analyzed in detail by the study. An interesting indicator for those seeking a hotel where the pool is not just a place to swim, but also a vantage point to admire the landscape. The survey does not provide, in the data available here, a ranking of locations with the most panoramic pools. The presence of wellness hotels in 101 municipalities shows how wide the geographic distribution of the considered facilities is.
The landscape does the rest. South Tyrol ranges from the 207 meters of the lower zones to the 3,905 meters of its highest peaks. A difference in altitude that translates into very different panoramas: valley floors, forested slopes, high-mountain pastures, and rocky faces. The pool experience also changes with the season. In winter the lure is warm water while outside it’s cold and Christmas markets are not lacking. In spring and autumn, the colors of the landscape take center stage. In summer, a panoramic pool can be the ideal pause after a few hours on the trails.
Private spas stand out
Among the most interesting travel trends for 2027 is also the possibility to relax in private spas, offerings where one can enjoy a moment of total privacy. There are at least 72 facilities offering this option, some with saunas or hot tubs for exclusive use. The arrangement is especially popular with couples seeking escapes and romantic weekends, perhaps for special occasions such as anniversaries.
