How many times have you arrived at the destination of your dreams only to find a gray sky and heavy rain pouring down from the heavens? If you’ve never experienced it, you’ve been truly lucky, but if it has happened, you know all too well how high the frustration can be: most of your plans must be revised, especially when the trip to that destination lasts only a few days. Not to mention the money spent, which might end up serving only to watch that fascinating city from the window of a hotel.
But there is good news, a luxury hotel has decided to “pamper” its guests with a new travel package that allows you to be reimbursed in case of rain.
The Singapore hotel that pays you in case of rain
We are in Singapore, an incredible city-state with a thousand faces, where rain falls for about 171 days a year. Among the various five-star hotels that carve out space in the unmistakable skyline of what is also known as the “Lion City,” the InterContinental Singapore stands out for having decided to offer a travel package that allows you to stay for free in case of rain.
As reported by CNN Travel, it is called “Rain Resist Bliss” and it provides a refund of one night’s stay if, during one of the planned activities, it ends up raining.
What are the conditions
The idea from the Singaporean hotel is certainly interesting and could prove to be an incentive for many luxury travelers who choose this special destination. However, there are conditions to be observed to make sure that a refund of a night’s stay can actually occur.
In a press release, the hotel specified that the criteria are met when the duration of rain exceeds 120 cumulative minutes within a four-hour window and during daytime hours. It isn’t enough to have a couple of droplets, but a sustained downpour that can really pose a problem for those vacationing in this area.
But that’s not all, because this package is valid only for people staying in suites, with the starting price at 850 SGD (about €583) per night for the junior suites, and from 4,500 SGD upwards (about €3,086) for the presidential suite.
The money arrives in the form of a voucher, which must be used at the InterContinental Singapore within six months, and the amount obtained if all criteria are met equals a one-night stay in the chosen room category.
What to do in Singapore in the rain
Luxury travelers will certainly be drawn to this opportunity offered by the Singaporean hotel, but that does not preclude the city from offering a wide range of activities, even when the sky is raining down.
For example, you can visit the Asian Civilisations Museum, which is precisely focused on the material history of China, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia, from which the various ethnic groups living in Singapore trace their origins.
