Prince Albert II of Monaco Visits Langhe: The Itinerary

Friday, October 9, the Langhe region is preparing to welcome the Prince Albert II of Monaco: the sovereign has a precise itinerary that will touch several villages recently admitted to the Association of Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco and linked by ancient ties to the Monaco dynasty. The institutional visit will, however, include stops in some of the villages of Alta Langa, meetings with administrations and local communities. The three towns are united by a history that runs through the Del Carretto family, protagonists for centuries in the history of this part of Piedmont. From here emerges the connection with the Grimaldis and with the origins of Monaco’s own dynasty.

The itinerary in the Langhe of Prince Albert II of Monaco
The program, in a single day, October 9, includes no fewer than three stops in as many Langhe villages symbolizing the territory. The prince will visit Novello, Cerretto Langhe and Niella Belbo, now part of the Grimaldi Historic Sites network. They will be welcomed by mayors and local authorities. The Sovereign will visit some of the most representative places in the towns and will have the opportunity to meet the communities.
The first village he will see will be Novello, which sets the historical thread of the journey; the town belonged to the ancient Marquessate of the Del Carretto. The route will then continue to Cerretto Langhe, another center that in the past fell within the domains of the Del Carretto. Here too the visit will serve to bring back to the foreground a part of local history which, after centuries, returns to connect directly to the Principality.
The third stop will be Niella Belbo, also belonging to the possessions of the Del Carretto marquises. In the town the day will also have a specific appointment: on the occasion of Alberto II’s arrival the inauguration of the Pallapugno Museum, as announced by the mayor Emanuele Sottimano. An element that will accompany the dynastic appeal as well as a tradition that is truly valuable for the regional territory. This is not the first time for the Sovereign; already in October 2025 he had been in the area; a precious return that strengthens the bond and presents itself as a prestigious opportunity for the territory.
The reasons for the October 9 visit
A golden opportunity for Piedmont and the Langhe: the arrival of the Prince is a prestigious event that shines a light on small villages outside the traditional tourist circuit.
For Marco Pallaro, mayor of Novello, the decision to visit all three towns gives the day a meaning that goes beyond the individual municipalities. Pallaro emphasized that the visit is a great honor and that everyone is particularly pleased that the Prince chose to stay in all three Municipalities on the same day.
The fact that the stops are concentrated on the same day is regarded by the administrators as one of the most relevant aspects of the appointment. In an interview the Mayor also highlighted the commitment, because it is rather rare for a Prince to visit multiple municipalities in the same day, underscoring how valuable the occasion is precisely for the Alta Langa territory.
The visit comes after a first institutional meeting occurred in the Principality; mayors of the 3 villages involved had already met Alberto II in Monaco. In short, in autumn when the area is already particularly magical, this adds another reason to discover it thanks to a special guest.
