Europe is a magical continent, with breathtaking vistas and destinations that make you dream. One of the best ways to explore it is on board a on board a train, perhaps a luxury and even vintage one. Yes, it would be wonderful to do so, and the good news is that it is now possible because a train is about to depart that for the first time will undertake a truly exceptional journey.

The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, A Belmond Train Europe

In June 2024 it will be possible to board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, A Belmond Train Europe, which for the first time will lead its passengers to discover the marvelous Ligurian coast, and in particular Portofino, departing from another special city: Paris.

It will be a journey with overnight stays that will let you admire the wonders of the French countryside, then travel along the entire Mediterranean Riviera until arriving at The Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, Portofino, where guests will stay for two nights.

A hotel truly special because its roots lie in history and glamour and that allows guests to enjoy an unparalleled view over the hills that overlook Portofino. The experience will also delight the palate because Jean Imbert, the renowned Michelin-starred chef of the legendary train, will organize a special dinner with a truly exclusive tasting menu.

On the coast by train

The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express will depart from Paris Thursday, June 20, welcoming its guests in an environment in perfect Art Deco style with cabins and unique suites. Recently it has also been enriched with eight new suites, but there are certainly cabins suitable for every type of traveler.

Want some examples? It will be possible to choose among the historic cabins, where the living area transforms into a cozy sleeping space with upper and lower berths; or the new and luxurious suites with single or double beds and a private marble bathroom. Then the Grand Suite, six spacious private suites that evoke the Golden Age of travel in the perfect grandeur of the 1920s and with a unique, inimitable style: inspired by Europe’s most fascinating cities such as Paris, Venice, Istanbul, Vienna, Prague and Budapest.

Passengers will be welcomed with a French-style snack in their cabins, and then they will be free to move to the bar carriage ‘3674’ to sip cocktails while listening to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express pianist, who will perform live.

Meanwhile this elegant train will glide through the magnificent cities of Dijon, Lyon and Avignon, as the Michelin-starred chef serves his new summer menu in the dining cars together with carefully selected wine. At the end of dinner, everyone will gather in the iconic carriage bar ‘3674’ to close the evening with an exclusive drink and with the music of The Uppertones.

The following morning a delicious continental breakfast will be served in the privacy of each cabin, before spectacular coastal views. From France the journey will continue into Italy, but not before passing through famous and spectacular places such as Cannes, Nice and Monte Carlo.

After crossing the Italian border, guests will be able to admire the vibrant towns of Ventimiglia, Savona and Genoa, the former capital of one of the most powerful maritime republics in the world. All this will be accompanied by a delicious brunch before arriving at Santa Margherita Ligure, where the train experience will end, but not the Italian sojourn, which will continue at the Splendido with an incredible three-night experience full of wonders and activities.
