MSC World Asia Debuts: The Cruise Ship with a Record-Breaking Swing

November 8, 2026

A 50-Metre-High Suspended Swing, an 81-meter slide that crosses no fewer than 12 bridges and even a brewery where beer is produced using desalinated seawater. It isn’t a floating amusement park, but one of the most eagerly anticipated novelties on the international cruise scene. It is called MSC World Asia, the new flagship of MSC Cruises, set to debut on December 6, 2026, with departures from Genoa and weekly itineraries exploring the Mediterranean.

Inspired by Asian cultures, traditions and landscapes, the ship promises to transform cruising into a true travel experience, thanks to seven distinct thematic districts, new gastronomic offerings, performances and attractions designed for adults and children.

All the News About MSC World Asia

Aboard the MSC World Asia cruise, adventures are certainly plentiful: there will be more than 40 among bars, restaurants and cafes, and Italian flavors will be showcased with the debut of Eataly on a European cruise ship. Here guests will be able to order made-to-order dishes, participate in the Chef’s Table experience, and dine on the panoramic terrace with a view of the sea.

For a break between activities there will also be the new Venchi space, which with its 300 square meters will be the largest on the MSC fleet. Inside you will find 20 flavors of gelato, 20 varieties of pralines and 11 kinds of chocolate bars, as well as Crunchy Waves, the sea-inspired ice cream.

Those who enjoy trying different flavors can instead stop at the new space dedicated to pan-Asian street food, where to sample specialties inspired by the culinary traditions of more than five Asian destinations. And for beer enthusiasts there is an extra curiosity: at the Masters of the Sea Pub, a trio of craft beers will be brewed directly on board, thanks to the collaboration with Baladin. Guests will thus be able to taste Oceanic Pils, Oceanic India Pale Ale and Oceanic Asian Blanche, created using desalinated seawater.

Even during days at sea there will be plenty of opportunities to have fun and try something different. Among the most unusual attractions is The Spiral @ Tree of Life, an 81.3-meter dry slide that crosses 12 bridges and will be the longest ever built aboard a cruise ship. Inspired by Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay, it will allow guests to move between different levels of the ship via a descent that is decidedly out of the ordinary.

Those who do not suffer from vertigo can instead try Cliffhanger, the first sea-suspended swing in Europe, which will lift guests to 50 meters above the water. For families, one of the gathering points will be The Harbour, an outdoor area with an expanded water park, a suspended adventure trail on two levels, play areas and refreshment points to pause between activities.

There will also be several ways to unwind, starting with pools inspired by Asian coastlines. Among these, the Coral Cove Pool will feature a retractable roof, so it can be used even when weather conditions do not permit outdoor use.

For the evening, the program includes six performances, four of which are new productions, while those seeking a more private stay can opt for one of the 144 MSC Yacht Club suites, spread across seven categories. Among the available options will also be the Royal Duplex Suite, designed for families and groups seeking more space and dedicated services.

The MSC World Asia itineraries: departing from Genoa

The debut of MSC World Asia is scheduled for December 6, 2026 from the port of Genoa, from where weekly cruises will depart to explore some of the Mediterranean’s most beloved destinations.

The itinerary will touch Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia, Messina and Valletta, alternating days at sea with stops to discover some of Europe’s most fascinating cities. Starting from summer 2027, Napoli will also join the itinerary.

The new flagship will stay in the Mediterranean for the winter and summer seasons, before changing scenery and heading to the southern Caribbean in the winter 2027/2028. Here it will offer 7- and 14-night itineraries, bringing its very new on-board experiences across the ocean as well.
