Wizz Air kicks off September with a new flash sale: discounts up to 20% on flights bookable on September 1 and 2, valid for travel between September 14, 2026 and March 17, 2027 (with the sole exception of the Christmas holidays, from December 18 to January 4).
The perfect opportunity for those who already want to pencil in an autumn escape or a winter weekend, while the airline continues to expand its network: from mid-December, Wizz Air will add Turin–Suceava to its offering, a further investment in the Piedmont airport tied to the opening of the new base in September.
Among the many discounted routes, here are three destinations off the beaten path to consider for your next trip.
From Bari to Skopje
From October, flights from Bari to the capital of North Macedonia will depart with tickets starting from €27.58. Skopje is certainly a city that surprises those who don’t know it. The Ottoman old town, with the Stone Bridge and one of the Balkans’ largest bazaars, coexists with monumental squares featuring neoclassical palaces, imposing statues, and dramatic bridges crafted in recent years as part of a project designed to aesthetically enhance the city.
Also worth seeing are the Kale Fortress, which overlooks the city from above, and the Mother Teresa Museum, born right here. For nature lovers, the Matka Canyon is a half-hour drive away: rocky cliffs, an emerald-green lake, and trails for all levels. Low cost of living, few crowds, and direct flights of just over an hour make Skopje a perfect weekend off the usual circuits.
From Bologna to Timisoara
From Bologna, however, it’s possible to reach Timisoara with fares starting from €52, to discover one of the most elegant and lesser-known cities in Romania.
European Capital of Culture in 2023, Timisoara has a historic center that recalls Vienna and Prague: Baroque squares, pastel-colored palaces, and churches of different denominations coexisting within a short distance of one another. Piata Unirii, the heart of the city, is surrounded by Habsburg-era buildings and historic cafés where you can stop for a pause. Not to miss also is Rozelor Park with its roses and the canals that cross the city center.
Timisoara is also an excellent starting point for exploring the Banat, the surrounding region, with castles and villages still little visited by tourists.
From Milan to Santander
Among the latest announcements from Wizz Air is also the route linking Milan to Santander with flights starting from €36. This is certainly one of the most interesting destinations recently added to the airline’s network. As the capital of Cantabria, on Spain’s northern coast, Santander is an elegant city facing a spectacular bay, with long urban beaches like El Sardinero and a compact city center perfect for walking.
Must-see are the Palacio de la Magdalena, the former royal residence that faces the sea, and the Centro Botín, Renzo Piano’s contemporary art museum. Cantabria is also the gateway to the Picos de Europa, among the most striking mountain ranges in northern Spain, and to coastal towns like Santillana del Mar and Comillas. A destination still relatively off the beaten path, perfect to discover right away.
