The Dolce Vita Orient Express unveils the new rail itineraries for 2027, conceived to accompany travelers as they discover some of Italy’s most iconic destinations.
From art-filled cities to Tuscan villages, passing through Liguria’s landscapes and the Langhe’s rolling hills, the new routes blend cultural heritage, culinary traditions, and landscapes that reveal the country’s diverse facets.
From Rome to Portofino, Venice and Florence: art and landscapes
Among the novelties is “Rome, Portofino, Venice & Tuscany,” a journey that begins in Rome and heads toward Portofino, a picturesque village famous for its pastel-colored façades, the harbor and the waters of the Ligurian coast.
The route continues toward Venice, where canals, historic palaces and reflections on the water recreate a distinctive atmosphere; the luxurious train then departs to reach Florence, cradle of the Renaissance, where architecture, works of art and the Arno River tell a cultural tradition of international importance.
The offering includes a onboard onboard cuisine inspired by the flavors of the regions traversed, paired with culinary experiences tied to local traditions.
The Italian Wine Route, a journey between Bolgheri and Verona
Italy’s winemaking tradition sits at the heart of The Italian Wine Route, the itinerary that links Bolgheri, in Tuscany, with Verona, in Veneto.
The medieval village of Bolgheri welcomes visitors with its characteristic cypress-lined avenue, set amid vineyards and hills that stretch toward the coast, in a region renowned for producing high-quality wines. The stop offers an entry into a tradition that blends soil characteristics, environmental conditions, and knowledge handed down through generations.
From Bolgheri the journey continues toward Verona, where wine culture accompanies a historical and architectural heritage that includes remnants from Roman times, medieval buildings, and Renaissance influences.
The Truffle Route takes you to the Langhe, to discover Alba
Another offering in the new collection is The Truffle Route, an itinerary devoted to Alba and the Langhe, a Piedmont region known for gastronomic excellence and for producing renowned wines.
Alba is famous especially for its white truffle, the centerpiece of a culinary tradition tied to the area’s characteristics, a touchstone for exploring the connection between gastronomy, seasonality and table culture.
The journey extends to the Langhe hills, where vineyards, historic villages and rural landscapes sketch a typical Piedmont scenery, with Barolo and Barbaresco standing out, wines that help define the region’s gastronomic reputation.
From Rome to Venice, via Tuscany
Completing the Rome to Venice collection, Rome to Venice connects two of Italy’s most famous cities by crossing the Tuscan countryside with a stop in Bolgheri.
Tuscany introduces a more rural dimension, with vineyards, villages and Mediterranean landscapes, while arriving in Venice enchants with the presence of the lagoon and the city’s distinctive relationship with water.
Bolgheri is the meeting point between travel and the discovery of Tuscany’s winemaking tradition. The transition from countryside to lagoon becomes an integral part of the experience, in line with the slow-travel philosophy promoted by the company.
