Jannik Sinner was the absolute protagonist of the debut of EXPLORA III, the new luxury ship from Explora Journeys that promises to become one of the Mediterranean’s most exclusive. The world’s number one tennis player and Global Brand Ambassador of the brand was indeed the first guest to board the vessel, taking part in the first leg of the Mediterranean Prelude Journey between Genoa and Marseille, from July 24 to 25.
An inaugural voyage that united sport, wellness, sustainability and high hospitality, offering guests a unique on-board experience aboard the company’s first LNG-powered ship, a technology that represents an important step toward more sustainable navigation.
Inaugural voyage of EXPLORA III
During the inaugural crossing, guests had the opportunity to meet Jannik Sinner in an exclusive setting, taking part in moments of exchange dedicated to his career and the athletic preparation that has brought him to the top of world tennis, after his recent Wimbledon success. The champion spoke about the value of discipline, a winning mindset and teamwork, essential elements of his sporting journey.
Among the voyage’s most appreciated innovations was also the preview of In Balance: A Jannik Sinner Ocean Wellness Programme, the new wellness program developed together with Explora Journeys and available aboard EXPLORA III.
During the inaugurating event, Anna Nash, President of Explora Journeys, also awarded Jannik Sinner the title of first Honorary Diamond Member of Explora Club, the brand’s loyalty program. A recognition extended to members of his coaching staff as well, praising the value of teamwork behind every sporting success.
One of the day’s symbolic moments was the ribbon-cutting of the new EXPLORA III paddle court. Alongside Captain Serena Melani and Anna Nash, Sinner officially inaugurated the court, before taking to the court for a friendly rally with his coach.
EXPLORA III: Itineraries in the Mediterranean
The first leg of the Mediterranean Prelude Journey concluded with a Gala Charity Dinner held at the French restaurant Fil Rouge. The event brought together Jannik Sinner and representatives of the Jannik Sinner Foundation, the MSC Foundation and Explora Journeys to support projects dedicated to education and the protection of the marine environment for the children of Mediterranean communities.
EXPLORA III introduces redesigned public spaces, Ocean Penthouses and Ocean Residences even more spacious, as well as three new culinary experiences: The Chef’s Table, The Cellar and Shore Club on Deck 11. Great emphasis is also placed on wellness thanks to the new Ocean Wellness.
Guests still aboard can meet the Explora Journeys leadership team and the architects who signed the ship’s project, delving into the philosophy that guided the creation of this new unit.
After arriving in Civitavecchia on July 29, EXPLORA III will be the lead vessel at the Official Naming Ceremony in Barcelona on August 1, then depart on August 3 for the inaugural voyage to Lisbon. The ship is the third in a fleet that will reach six units by 2028, confirming Explora Journeys’ strategy of focusing on luxury cruises, innovation and sustainability in the Mediterranean and beyond.
