Have You Ever Been to the Moon?: The Locations of Paolo Genovesi’s Film

September 6, 2026

On Sunday, September 6 2026, Rai 1 re-airs in a Paolo Genovesi comedy featuring an exceptional cast — among others Raul Bova, Neri Marcorè, Nino Frassica, Emilio Solfrizzi, Sabrina Impacciatore, Giulia Michelini, Pietro Sermonti — filmed across ancient masserie, sun-drenched historic centers, austere provincial bars, and gorgeous seafronts. Let’s discover together the filming locations of Have you ever been to the Moon?.

What it’s about

Guia is the young Italian‑Spanish editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine. She divides her time between Milan and Paris, but upon her father’s death she inherits the masseria in Puglia where she used to spend summers with her family as a child.

Her initial plan is to sell it as soon as possible, but when she travels to Puglia for her father’s funeral she realizes she must deal with a cousin who has an intellectual disability, the young and handsome widower who manages the estate, and a microcosm of other quirky characters.

Gradually, contrary to all expectations, Guia grows accustomed to country life and changes her mind about both the estate and her future: a change that is undeniably connected to the intriguing bond that forms with Renzo, the estate manager played by Raul Bova.

Where was the film shot

Masseria Lupoli

Among the locations of Have you ever been to the Moon?, the main setting is the Masseria Lupoli. As many online sources report, it is located in Crispiano: a town nestled between the Valle d’Itria and the Gulf of Taranto, part of a stretch of Apulia known precisely as the “Apulia of the hundred masserie.” These farmhouses, today often converted into guest accommodations, recount the region’s long-standing rural heritage.

At Masseria Lupoli, the beating heart of a farming operation specializing in olive cultivation, the scenes were shot both inside and outside the property inherited by Guia.

Nardò

Also in Nardò, a destination often included in itineraries to discover the Salento’s most beautiful beaches, the comedy with Raul Bova found its setting. In some shots you can recognize Piazza Salandra, Via Vittorio Emanuele, Corso Garibaldi, the Church of Santa Teresa and that of Sant’Antonio: the historic center of Nardò, in short, which certainly deserves a visit to admire the sumptuous beauty of Salento’s Baroque.

Galatina

In the province of Lecce, the production also shot in Galatina: another gem, perhaps less known but certainly no less intriguing than the Salento, with a historic center made up of cobbled streets, elegant squares, and historic palaces all waiting to be explored.

Martina Franca

Another location for Have you ever been to the Moon? is Martina Franca: several key scenes were filmed in the intricate maze of the city center’s streets. Easily recognizable on screen is Piazza Maria Immacolata with its semicircular arcades (hence locals often call it Piazza dei Portici).

Brindisi

In Brindisi, exterior and panoramic shots were filmed: the harbor and the Castello Alfonsino provide, after all, a unique postcard of maritime Apulia and have long served as a “bridge” between cultures beyond our own.

Other locations

Outside of Apulia, Paolo Genovesi’s Have you ever been to the Moon? was shot mainly in Milan, where Guia lives and works before receiving the paternal inheritance. To represent the fashion city on screen, the area around Piazza San Babila is particularly prominent.
