It seems to be the summer of thriller and adventure series led by strong yet unpredictably sharp women: after Lucky on Apple TV and Run or Die on Prime Video, on July 27, 2026 Disney+ premieres a crime thriller drama in which Emmy Rossum, best known for her role in Shameless, plays a bold FBI agent on the trail of a no less sly serial killer. Let’s discover together the locations of Furious.
What is it about
Inspired by the film The Black Widow (1987), the new Disney+ series centers on a string of murders whose victims are all powerful men apparently dead from overdoses. To investigate the cases, she is drawn in by a police friend (Scoot McNairy) Alice Black: a recently joined FBI agent after a long police career that ended due to a case of domestic violence in which she and her husband were involved.
Decided to prove her talent and to strike back after months of harassment even from the new superior, Alice discovers that the killings are tied to Catherine (Lola Petticrew): a shrewd woman, emotionally connected to the victims and eager to mete out justice on her own for what she has endured in the past. As she tries to anticipate Catherine’s moves, Alice ends up identifying with Catherine in a game of psychological projections where the line between good and evil becomes increasingly blurred.
Where was the series filmed
Written by Elizabeth Meriwether and directed by Brian Kirk, the series was filmed in New York: the frenetic pace of the Big Apple, its upscale neighborhoods, the busy streets around the clock that give the impression of a city that never sleeps suit the high-tension narrative of this crime thriller drama almost entirely led by women. The locations of Furious are, more specifically, found between the Civic Center and Brooklyn.
Manhattan’s Civic Center
Primarily used for exterior shoots, the Civic Center is a stretch of Manhattan where a large number of public and governmental buildings are located, and it is frequented daily by many residents and commuters as well as tourists. In the shots of Furious, thanks to the colonnade and the neoclassical façade of the United States Courthouse, it is easy to recognize especially Foley Square.
In the square, besides the federal courthouse, lie numerous other emblematic buildings of American justice such as the New York County Courthouse, the Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse, and the Jacob K. Javits Federal Building and Court of International Trade: they offer the perfect backdrop to immerse oneself in the mood of Disney+’s new crime-legal series.
Brooklyn
If the Manhattan locations of Furious inevitably evoke the way American justice has long been portrayed on screen, Brooklyn’s locations are no less compelling. Among them is Fort Hamilton: an old military site turned into a pop symbol of the neighborhood precisely because it has appeared in numerous TV and film productions, from Law and Order to Marvel sagas.
Among other Brooklyn filming locations listed by Rete are 96th and 97th Streets, Shore Road, Marine Avenue: here, in the heart of one of New York’s most populous districts, famous for its lively nightlife and for the stunning view of Manhattan’s skyline from the bridge, some of the drama’s most adrenaline-fueled chase sequences unfold.
