Cala Mesquida, a pearl of Mallorca, has been included among the Best Beaches in Europe 2026 by European Best Destinations, an accolade that hardly surprises those who have walked the rugged paths that lead to this corner of seaside paradise. We are on the island’s northeast coast, in the municipality of Capdepera, about 7 kilometers from the town center, where Cala Mesquida forms, together with Cala Agulla and Cala Torta, a trio of spectacular beaches capable of alone justifying a trip to Mallorca.
If you stay in the area, you won’t be able to skip dedicating at least a day to them, especially if, more than crowded and prestigious beaches, you love long walks immersed in nature, in search of coves and small hidden beaches caressed by water crystal-clear like never before.
A beach that has not yielded to mass tourism
Cala Mesquida presents itself with about 300 meters of very fine white sand, bordered by a crystal-clear sea that slopes gently toward the open sea and makes entry into the water easy for everyone. It is a beach that, despite its beauty, has managed to resist becoming a mass tourist destination and has preserved a more authentic atmosphere compared with other Mallorca locations: it is perfect for families with children, for those seeking relaxation and also for surfers, drawn by the swells that on certain days make the sea quite lively. Precisely for this reason, the beach is equipped with a lifeguard service: the waters of Cala Mesquida are often affected by fairly strong currents, an aspect to always pay the utmost attention to during bathing.
Snorkeling is also truly appealing, thanks to the rocky seabed and a depth of up to forty meters.
To make the cove even more evocative is the immense pine forest that wraps it from behind, a genuine shade refuge where you can take a break during the hottest hours of the day, when the sun beats down and the classic afternoon slump takes hold. Walking among the pines, with the resin scent mixing with the sea breeze, is an experience that completes the day by the sea and provides a natural counterpoint to the open and sunlit beach.
How to reach Cala Mesquida
Getting to Cala Mesquida by car is straightforward, which makes it accessible even to those who do not yet know the island well. Parking is a short walk from the beach, convenient for those who don’t want to haul umbrellas and beach bags along long strolls; it should be noted, however, that on peak-season days the crowds are quite heavy.
The most convenient solution for getting around Mallorca, in general, remains car rental, which guarantees freedom of timing and the possibility to explored nearby beaches, such as Cala Agulla and Cala Torta, at a relaxed pace.
If you prefer to rely on public transport, you can reach Cala Mesquida by bus from Palma de Mallorca, but expect a journey of about two and a half hours: the route uses line TIB to Capdepera, where you must transfer and board bus No. 422, which takes you to the beach.
