The Amerigo Vespucci Has Returned to Italy. After closing the North American chapter of its long voyage and turning toward Europe, via Ponta Delgada and Cadiz, the Italian Navy’s training ship is now in Cagliari, the first Italian stop on this new leg of the journey. A stay in Sardinia is planned until September 15.
Then the Vespucci will resume its voyage toward Campania, where a momentous engagement awaits: from September 17 to 19 it will be in Castellammare di Stabia, the town where it was launched in 1931. For two days, it will also be possible to board for free, but spots are limited and a reservation is required.
The Amerigo Vespucci Arrives at Castellammare di Stabia
For the Vespucci’s autumn Italian itinerary, the brig will be moored at the Sottoflutto Dock of Castellammare di Stabia’s harbor, a welcome return since the vessel was built in the local shipyards there before its 1931 launch. Arrival is expected on September 17, with public visits opening on Friday, September 18 from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM, and repeating on Saturday, September 19 from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
How to Board
Visits to the Amerigo Vespucci are free, but entry is allowed only with a named reservation made through the official Vespucci Tour website. Other channels or platforms for issuing access passes are not recognized.
With a single registration you can reserve up to four people. After selecting the day and time slot you must enter the participants’ details. The confirmation is sent by email along with a QR code, which must be shown to staff at entry. The code is unique and is sent to the person who makes the reservation. If multiple participants are registered, the group must arrive together. Be punctual: access is allowed only from 15 minutes before to 15 minutes after the time stated in the confirmation. Before entry, identity documents may be requested to confirm the names used during the booking.
To board, besides the reservation, you must follow the dress code by selecting a comfortable look and closed-toe shoes, such as sneakers. Those bringing children should know that strollers and prams are not permitted. Minors must be accompanied, and children under one year should not be included in the reservation.
Upcoming Stops
Before reaching Castellammare di Stabia, the Amerigo Vespucci will remain in Cagliari until September 15.
- From September 20 to 25 it will be in Naples, moving there after its stop in the stabian city; the dates coincide with the 38th edition of the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Regatta;
- From October 2 to 7 it will arrive in Venice, in front of the Naval Historical Museum in the Riva di San Biaso area, in conjunction with the Trans-Regional Seapower Symposium expected for October 6–7 at the Naval Arsenal;
- From October 8 to 12 it will stop in Trieste;
- Then it will proceed to Ravenna, named the Italian Capital of the Sea 2026.
The event is unmissable, with only a few dates available and a limited number of onboard spots. Booking in advance is important for anyone who truly dreams of stepping aboard.
