Strolling among pumpkins in Lombardy
Our journey to discover pumpkin fields in Italy begins in Lombardy, specifically Bergamo. Here lies one of the most famous you-pick fields for all seasons: Tulipania. If in spring this vast area, as its name suggests, hosts hundreds of tulips to admire, photograph, and pick, in autumn the field turns orange.
Among scarecrows, mountains of pumpkins, and themed areas, you can spend a carefree day with friends or family. The pumpkins are the absolute protagonists: you can admire and harvest them, taste seasonal offerings designed for breakfast, apéritif, and snack, and also decorate them. But that’s not all: beyond the activities already mentioned, you can participate in creative workshops and themed, interactive games. The event takes place every weekend, in the evocative setting of Terno D’Isola, until November 9.
We move just outside Milan, to Nerviano. It’s here that you can enter the Campo di Federica: a magical autumn tale waiting to be lived and shared. The owner’s imaginative setups celebrate the season, weaving through the countryside that hosts numerous and diverse varieties of pumpkins. Inspired by American pumpkin patches, this field also offers, for both adults and children, painting and carving workshops and the golden hour accompanied by music and seasonal treats. It opens from September 21 to October 31.
We stay near Milan to reach Vimodrone and discover one of the most captivating pumpkin fields in American style. To deliver an extraordinary experience is Agricola delle Meraviglie di Steflor, with an autumn festival that places the pumpkin at the center of the experience. The season’s fruit here is the star: strolling through the field, which extends over more than 12,000 square meters, you will find edible and ornamental pumpkins to admire, photograph, and buy, totaling 41 specimens. The field will be open from September 20 to October 31, seven days a week.
In Lombardy’s pumpkin-patch list there’s also the Campo dei Fiori di Galbiate, in the province of Lecco. Here, in autumn, the area overlooking Lake Annone becomes a Halloween-themed pumpkin field. Countless varieties to discover, such as Hokkaido pumpkins, Cedrina, Butternut, and the delicious Spaghetti squash. Not to mention the ornamental specimens that become the perfect seasonal decor. Inside the field you can also choose your pumpkin, carve it, and decorate it before taking it away. The field is open daily, including weekends, from September 19 to November 2.
Experiences to enjoy in Lombardy this autumn don’t end here. In Ornago, in the province of Monza and Brianza, there is the U-Pick Shirin field, located within the protected P.A.N.E. park on a tract of 40,000 square meters, which during the season glows orange. The pumpkin field is open to the public every weekend in October (check hours and days on the official site).
In the province of Pavia, instead, from September 20 returns for the sixth year the Village of Pumpkins of San Martino Siccomario and, for eight weekends, there will be games, creative workshops on the theme, a didactic farm with chickens, ornamental hens, geese, rabbits and ducks, mini electric jeeps and pedal and electric tractors, a playground area, and one absolute protagonist, the pumpkin, queen of autumn. But there are also novelties: grape stomping in the first weekend of opening, and four extended openings until 9:30 p.m. (on September 20, 21, 27 and 28) with street food, beer galore and live music. Entrance costs 15 euros, free for children born from 2022 to 2025.
Veneto: Grandpa Andrea’s pumpkins near Treviso
For those seeking an autumn experience to live and share with friends or family, Treviso is the ideal destination. In Villorba, the Pumpkin Village has been inaugurated. The dream is brought to life by the Nonno Andrea agricultural company, which, precisely in this most evocative season, decided to open the doors of its pumpkin patch to adults and children alike.
Here you’ll find everything: bales of straw decorated, wagons piled with produce, and, of course, thousands of pumpkins cultivated directly in the field. You can also indulge in dishes and drinks based on pumpkin. The field opens on September 19 and stays open until November 2.
Your pumpkin at the gates of Turin
For those living in Turin, and for those planning to visit the city and its surroundings this autumn, the House of Pumpkins is a must. We are in Andezeno, just twenty kilometers from the Piedmont capital. Here, from September 13 to December 14, it’s possible to visit one of the most fascinating pumpkin fields in the country.
Exhibitions, shows, and markets spotlight the autumn protagonists: pumpkins. There are many varieties, in every shape, size, and color, edible or ornamental: the options are plentiful. Moreover, during the last days of October, you can choose and buy Halloween pumpkins already carved and decorated.
Marche: the pumpkin village in Pesaro
Heading south toward the heart of the country, we cannot miss a stop in Pesaro, where the Garden of Colors has given life to the Pumpkin Village this year. Open every weekend, from September 20 to November 2, this place is perfect for anyone who wants to get lost and immerse themselves in the autumn atmosphere.
This is the region’s only you-pick field where, besides harvesting pumpkins, adults and children can participate in carving and decorating workshops, walk through corn mazes, and take part in a novel sack race.
Pumpkin patches in Lazio, Rome and surroundings
We now move to Lazio to discover pumpkin patches located around the Capital. We begin with Le Zucche di Barbabianca, a field of wonders situated in Fiumicino and promoted by the Torre in Pietra Carandini agricultural company. Inspired by American tradition, this field hosts numerous pumpkins to admire, photograph, and harvest in a rural and bucolic atmosphere also populated by animals that live on the farm. To make the experience even more unforgettable, the company organizes carving, painting, and decoration workshops. The Fiumicino pumpkin patch is visitable from September 27 to November 2.
To the north of Rome, in Sacrofano, we find the Fattoria della Zucca. It is a pumpkin patch in perfect American style located inside the evocative Parco di Veio. Pumpkins are, of course, the stars of an extraordinary experience that also includes creative workshops to create the most beautiful Jack O’Lantern for Halloween. Campania: The Garden of Pumpkins in Caserta
The final destination of this journey through Italy’s pumpkin fields brings us to Caserta. Here lies a pumpkin patch with a Stars-and-Stripes spirit. Emily, the project’s founder, indeed has American roots: she was the one who wanted to realize in Campania the first you-pick field in the region.
There are many activities to enjoy here: visitors are invited to stroll among the pumpkins, choose their favorite, and transform it with carving and decorations. You can then relax inside the Pumpkin Café, a refreshment spot offering pumpkin-based dishes and drinks, and lose yourself in the Autumn Maze built within the park. The Garden of Pumpkins will be open from September 20 to November 2.
