A journey to discover Vietnam from north to south, moving to the rhythm of the train and stopping along the way to encounter landscapes, historic towns, and traditions: this is the idea behind SJourney, the Vietnamese brand dedicated to luxury rail itineraries that turn the journey itself into part of the experience. The project gains an Italian touch as well: Arsenale, a player in luxury hospitality and rail tourism, has acquired a strategic 33% stake in SJourney.
The most representative route is the one that connects Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City in eight days and seven nights, with a program that alternates on-board time with organized stops, during which travelers can get to know up close some of the country’s most significant locations.
Exploring the Wonders of Vietnam
Over the eight days along the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route, stops are planned in some of Vietnam’s most interesting areas, including Trang An, the Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, and Hoi An, all recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The journey begins in Hanoi, with boarding scheduled at Gia Lam Station: the first evening is devoted to onboard reception and a welcome dinner.
Day two leads toward Ninh Binh, one of the most evocative areas of northern Vietnam, with a visit to Trang An, famous for its karst landscapes, in addition to discovering the area linked to the ancient capital. The next stop takes you to Quang Binh, where the itinerary enters the Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, one of the most interesting natural sites included in the route.
The journey then continues toward Hue, the ancient imperial city where the program includes a visit to the Imperial Citadel and an in-depth look at local craftsmanship. The fifth day is dedicated to Quang Nam, with a stop in Hoi An.
After the central part of the journey, the train heads south and reaches Phu Yen, famous for its paradisiacal pristine beaches and lush nature. The penultimate day brings travelers to Phan Thiet, where the experience is also tied to Cham culture, ending with the final dinner aboard.
On the eighth day the train finally reaches Ho Chi Minh City, with transfers arranged to the hotel or the airport.
Private Cabins and Onboard Services
What sets SJourney apart is also the level of service: private cabins equipped with a bathroom, air conditioning, and a safe, with linen and courtesy toiletries. During the journey there is a daily turn-down service, while the beds are prepared in the evening. Each cabin also includes a personal assistant, part of a service designed to accompany the passenger throughout the journey.
The luxury experience also features the onboard restaurant, and the package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, both during time on board and, in some cases, at the restaurants planned for the excursions. Beverages such as soft drinks, beer, and house wine are included with meals. To complete the offering, guided tours in English, admissions listed in the itinerary, and private transfers at the start and end of the trip are provided.
However, travelers are responsible for the visa, insurance, personal expenses, and drinks consumed outside the included meals.
