Which airlines and airports today convince high-end travelers the most? The ULTRAs 2026 – Ultimate Luxury Travel Related Awards provide the answer, one of the international rankings dedicated to luxury tourism. The ranking, born from the votes of Ultratravel readers and the members of GHA DISCOVERY, offers a way to explore luxury travel by identifying the best airlines in the luxury sector.
Emirates, the Best Airline for Luxury Travel 2026
Emirates is the world’s best airline according to the ULTRAs 2026. The Dubai-based carrier clinched the title Best Airline in the World and, at the same time, Best Airline in the Middle East.
A dual recognition that confirms the carrier’s weight in the premium segment, especially on intercontinental routes. Emirates has built over the years its reputation on high-end cabins, ground services, lounges and international connections that use Dubai as one of the main hubs linking Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania.
However, the prize concerns not only the onboard product. The ranking arises from travelers’ preferences and thus provides a broader assessment of the overall experience: from check-in to airport transit, up to the service during the flight.
The other awarded airlines
In Europe the title of Best Airline in Europe went to Lufthansa, while Singapore Airlines emerged as the best airline in the Asia/Australasia region. For the Americas the recognition was awarded to Delta Air Lines.
Four airlines very different from one another in operating model, network and service style. The interesting point is precisely this: the concept of premium travel no longer seems to follow a single formula. Some focus mainly on the onboard experience, others on the quality of the lounges, others on the reach of the network, and others on the smoothness of the passenger’s entire journey.
The ULTRAs, being based on travelers’ preferences, primarily reflect a picture of reputation. Not a technical evaluation of seats, punctuality or individual services, but how the public perceives the brand and the overall experience.
The best airports for luxury travel 2026
Among the airports, the winner was Singapore Changi Airport, named Best Airport in the World. Singapore’s airport continues to stand out for a model that goes beyond mere transit: services, shopping, dining, green spaces and dedicated passenger zones in connection have become part of its identity.
For those traveling long-haul, the comfort of the airport matters more and more. A long layover can become part of the experience, especially in major international hubs.
For the premium traveler the quality of an airport weighs more than it might seem. A connection can transform from a troublesome pass-through into a pleasant part of the itinerary; good assistance can reduce stress; lounges and fast-track routes make a day started perhaps on the other side of the world easier. It is no surprise, therefore, that airports are increasingly adopting the language of luxury hospitality.
Thus the ULTRAs 2026 reveal a geography of luxury that is ever more international. Emirates leads the skies, Changi among the airports, while awarded hotels and resorts draw a map from London to Bangkok, via Sydney, Doha, New Delhi and New York.
