After crossing the Atlantic and stopping in several of North America’s major cities, the Amerigo Vespucci has again taken center stage in Italy: the historic sailing school vessel of the Italian Navy will arrive in Trieste from 8 to 12 October 2026, precisely during the Barcolana 58, turning the city’s capital of Friuli-Venezia Giulia into one of autumn’s most evocative occasions.
Trieste will not host just any stopover: it marks the conclusion of the North America Campaign 2026, which in recent months has carried the famed Italian tall ship across the ocean and back into the Mediterranean. Before reaching the Giulian capital, the Vespucci touched several Italian cities, including Cagliari, Castellammare di Stabia, Naples, and Venice.
Amerigo Vespucci in Trieste, schedules and on-board visits
The Amerigo Vespucci will be in Trieste from 8 to 12 October 2026 and will be berthed at the Molo Bersaglieri, a central position along the city’s seafront. Its presence coincides with the 58th edition of Barcolana, planned from 2 to 11 October, with the Autumn Cup scheduled for Sunday, 11 October.
On exactly Sunday, 11 October, it will be possible to board the Vespucci. Public visits are scheduled from 14:00 to 19:00, with the last entry at 18:30. The tour is free and self-guided: during the visit, however, crew members will be available to assist visitors. Access is permitted only through a nominal reservation via the official website, and each registration could include up to four people.
Joining the ship will also be the Villaggio IN Italia, set up at Molo Bersaglieri and freely accessible. The hours are from 10:00 to 22:00 on 8 October, from 10:00 to 23:30 on 9 and 10 October, and from 9:00 to 20:00 on 11 October. The spaces include shops, exhibition stands, and food trucks, while some events, by reservation, will be held in the Saturnia Hall of the Maritime Station’s Conference Center.
After Trieste, the next stop will be Ravenna
Trieste officially marks the final stop of the Amerigo Vespucci World Tour – North America Campaign 2026, but the ship’s journey does not end there. After bidding farewell to the Giulian capital, the Vespucci will make a port call in Ravenna, chosen to pay tribute to the city as Italy’s Sea Capital 2026.
At present, the official Vespucci Tour portal has not yet published dates, visiting hours, or access procedures for the Ravenna leg. Information about future Italian stops is released progressively through the Tour’s official site and channels. Ravenna will thus represent a kind of special epilogue following the 2026 Campaign’s conclusion in Trieste, offering nonetheless another opportunity to see up close one of the Italian Navy’s most widely recognized symbols.
