In the new October 2026 issue of the flip-through magazine GATE, we take you back to Dubai to discover a side that is unseen, yet far more authentic of the Emirate that never stops drawing Italians.
While it might seem that Dubai is all futuristic skyscrapers, ultra-luxury malls, costly attractions and star-rated restaurants, you’d be greatly mistaken. Just a short stroll from the most iconic sites lies a less touristy, less glossy area—and, above all, cheaper but far more authentic—that only locals and expats know. It is the Deira district, the historic and lively commercial area located in the eastern part of the city. We have been there and we’ll tell you about it.
But we also share a few day-trip ideas in Italy: from a ride on the Foliage Train to a visit to the Amerigo Vespucci, and a stop on the island of Ortigia in Sicily.
