Fausto Brizzi returns to the cinema with a comedy that feels profoundly timely, starring an exceptional cast that includes Frank Matano, Laura Chiatti, Rocío Muñoz Morales, and Francesco Sole, with a cameo by Taylor Mega. Quasi Vera, in theaters from October 1, 2026, is a film rich in surprising locations, featuring Renaissance palaces in the heart of Lazio and renowned seaside resorts just a stone’s throw from Rome.
What it’s about
Diego, the protagonist played by Frank Matano, is an up-and-coming actor who, after failed auditions and small roles in lower-budget films, struggles to get his career off the ground. He decides to leverage his computer skills to create, with the help of artificial intelligence, a virtual influencer.
Vera, portrayed by Taylor Mega, thanks to her charm and irony, as well as a knack for following the National Team’s results worthy of the best sports influencers, quickly becomes a viral phenomenon. This forces Diego, soon after, to face the unintended consequences of his project and a boundary between reality and fiction that becomes increasingly hazily dangerous.
Where the film was shot
The new Fausto Brizzi film, set in Rome, was shot entirely in Lazio: between the Castelli Romani and the capital’s coastline.
Ariccia, Chigi Palace
In Ariccia, a town in the Castelli Romani famous for its fraschette and for the stunning Renaissance-style historic center, lies without a doubt the most exclusive location of Quasi Vera: as several sources, including local outlets, confirm, the production (Tramp Limited) filmed at Palazzo Chigi.
These environments imitate, in Brizzi’s new film with Frank Matano, Laura Chiatti and Rocío Muñoz Morales, the refined salons of Rome’s upper society where the virtual influencer played by Taylor Mega begins to be invited more often as her follower count grows.
Ostia
Among the locations for Quasi Vera, as noted, is also the Lazio coast: already present in Brizzi’s other films (from Notte prima degli esami to Poveri ma ricchi), it stands as a symbol of the director’s enduring bond with seaside towns where he likely spent his childhood and adolescence.
In Ostia the crew shot for four weeks. One of the area’s most historic seaside establishments, Il Venezia, served as the backdrop for summer scenes that reveal the carefree and boisterous Roman social life.
