After two months spent moving through neighborhoods, Ater courtyards, markets, bars, parks, and streets, the Roma Borgata Festival arrived at the Parco di Torre del Fiscale for the final week of its second edition. From September 7 to 13, the evocative Roman landscape marked by the presence of the aqueducts becomes the stage for seven days dedicated to performing arts, including site-specific dance, theatre, music, literature, and performative strolls.
The Roma Borgata Festival is a project by ASAPQ, with artistic direction by Alessandra Muschella, and in the final week it concentrates some of the projects that characterized the entire second edition, alongside new appointments designed to dialogue with the space of the Parco di Torre del Fiscale.
The Parco di Torre del Fiscale Becomes an Open-Air Stage
The concluding programming will begin with a project that centers on the direct relationship between body, movement, and place: from Monday, September 7 to Friday, September 11 there will be the site-specific dance residency “Pillole Urbane”, curated by ACSD KODANCE/&KO.
The artists will work within the park to build the choreography that will then be presented to the public on Saturday, September 12, at 7:00 PM, with “To the Ground”; the concept, direction, and choreography are by Sil Marti, with the choreographic assistance of Giulia Federico.
A Journey Through Quadraro Aboard an Eighties School Bus
Wednesday, September 9, at 7:00 PM, returns one of the emblematic projects of the festival’s second edition, “Scuolabus – When the Journey Becomes a Story”: Giulia Anania and Lavinia Mancusi will accompany the audience on a route through Quadraro aboard an eighties-era school bus.
The journey will touch hidden places, memories, human stories, and neighborhood details that often lie outside everyday gaze: music, words, and urban storytelling meet in an experience where movement becomes part of the performance.
On Stage: The Story of Cyclist Vito Taccone
Thursday, September 10, at 7:00 PM, the program continues with “Bar Campioni – The Chained Cyclist”, a theatrical performance written and performed by Ariele Vincenti, with music by Tiziano Gialloreto.
At the center of the show is Vito Taccone, the celebrated “Abruzzo Chamois”, a figure that entered the imagination of 20th-century Italian sport for his extraordinary climbing prowess. Rebel, generous, and irascible, Taccone is also portrayed through his human and popular dimension.
Ideally set in a sports bar in the Abruzzo hinterland, the performance retraces his athletic and personal saga and yields a portrait of a nonconformist champion and a figure who managed to secure a special place in the history of cycling.
Italo Calvino, Music, and the Concerts of the New Generation
Friday, September 11, at 7:00 PM, space for “Fiammiferi”, a performative project by ABRA with Stella Mastrantonio and Brando Pacitto and the soundtrack by Ludovico Franco.
The work offers a rereading of Italo Calvino’s The Adventure of Two Newlyweds through a collective, immersive, and site-specific reading experience.
The evening will continue from 8:00 PM with “Dominio Pubblico for Roma Borgata Festival”, which will host three concerts entrusted to the programming of DAP Under 25 – Participated Artistic Direction. The initiative leaves space to the perspectives and proposals of a new generation of artists and their ability to contribute to shaping a cultural program.
After the presentation of “To the Ground”, Saturday, September 12, will continue with “Omaggio a Hans Zimmer”, directed by Giordano Maselli.
Symphonic Dialogues Close the Second Edition
On the festival’s final day, Sunday, September 13, the program will start at 6:00 PM with “Street Stories”, a performative walk in the Parco di Torre del Fiscale curated by Giulia Anania and Tiziano Panici and will continue at 8:00 PM with “Dialoghi Sinfonici – Operette”, featuring the EICO Orchestra conducted by Maestro Germano Neri.
All events will take place at the Parco di Torre del Fiscale, with entry from Via dell’Acquedotto Felice 120. Tickets, priced between 1 and 2 euros, contribute to supporting the Festival.
