The four Italian hotels honored
The prestigious luxury travel circuit has crowned the kings of Made in Italy hospitality among the world’s top 50. Fourth in the overall ranking is the Hotel Passalacqua on Lake Como, which for the second year in a row secures, in addition to the title of Best Hotel in Europe, also the Best Boutique Hotel.
Housed in an 18th‑century villa in Moltrasio, where Pope Innocent XI once stayed, this hotel today is a refuge of pure elegance. The 24 rooms are set among terraced gardens, featuring original frescoes, Murano chandeliers, and postcard-perfect lake views. Overnight stays start at around €1,100 per night.
The second Italian hotel in the rankings is the Four Seasons Firenze, occupying ninth place. Renaissance and timeless, this 15th‑century Medici palace, transformed into a charming oasis, fuses history and modernity in 116 frescoed rooms. It lies a short walk from the Uffizi and the Duomo, and offers shuttle and bicycles to explore the city. Rates start at around €860.
At the twenty-second place in The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2025 is the Bulgari Roma, a new entry in the prestigious international ranking. Facing the Mausoleum of Augustus in the capital, this hotel blends 1930s rationalism with contemporary charm, among marble mosaics, Murano glass, and Gio Ponti vases.
The rooms, in four palettes inspired by precious stones, overlook Piazza Augusto Imperatore and Via della Frezza. In the Bulgari Suite, a marble tub carved from a single block evokes the ancient Baths of Caracalla. Staying here is a dream for a few: prices start from €1,300.
Completing the list of Italian excellence is a new entry: Hotel Il Pellicano. Located in Porto Ercole, a hamlet of the scattered municipality of Monte Argentario in the province of Grosseto, it has placed at 26th position. Born in the 1960s from a love story and becoming an icon of la dolce vita, this property continues to captivate with its discreet charm. Overlooking a secret bay on Monte Argentario, amid bougainvillea and turquoise sea, the hotel blends Tuscan style with international allure. Here too, rooms start from around €860.
The ranking of the 50 best hotels in the world
What are the best hotels worldwide? Topping The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2025 is Rosewood Hong Kong, moving up two places from 2024, confirming Asia as the new capital of luxury. It is followed by the Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River in second place and the Capella Bangkok in third.
