It is not common in family comedies for the settings to play a central role in how the story unfolds. When it happens, as in Wealth at All Costs, the result is an unexpected, occasionally hilarious journey through picturesque villages, sunlit beaches, solitary lighthouses, and hidden corners that sometimes lie just around the corner from home.
Although the film is set on a stunning Spanish island, many of the shooting locations were chosen from Italian landscapes. Here are the main locations of Giovanni Bognetti’s film starring Christian De Sica and Angela Finocchiaro, airing in prime time on Canale 5 on August 12, 2026.
What it’s about
The Delle Fave family, already the protagonists of “Natale a tutti i costi,” of which this film is a kind of sequel, have a new mission: to stop grandma Giuliana from marrying Nunzio, a character who is ambiguous, likely more interested in the inheritance than in love, who has seduced the woman and fantasizes about taking her to South America. Anna’s plan is to kill the future groom a few days before the wedding: to carry it out she needs the help of her husband Carlo and their children and, above all, to travel to Minorca. Once there, tensions, quarrels, and small misunderstandings flare up, inevitably reminding the protagonists of the importance of being a family.
Where the film was shot
The comedy – an original Netflix production – was filmed between Italy and the island of Minorca in Spain: in several gems of these two countries, the new adventures of the Delle Fave family unfold.
The Lazio region
The domes of Rome seen from one of the city’s most panoramic vantage points, Piazza dei Cavallieri di Malta, provide the backdrop for the family feast at which grandma Giuliana announces the impending marriage to Nunzio.
In Ciampino the chosen location is the Village of Villa Fiorita, a cluster of charming single-family houses surrounded by greenery, highly sought after on the current real estate market: this is where the Delle Fave home is located.
Among the scenes are other common areas that the residents of Fiumicino will recognize, including car rentals and airport facilities.
Among the Lazio locations where the comedy was filmed, Monte Gelato (Mazzano Romano) stands out in particular: its suggestive waterfalls are the ones in front of which, in the film, Nunzio risks being poisoned. This complex on the Treja River, which besides the waterfalls also includes an old mill and the ruins of a medieval tower, is for many Romans a refreshing and green oasis just a stone’s throw from the city.
The Tuscany
Other Italian locations for Wealth at All Costs are found in Tuscany. In an ancient monastery converted into a luxurious hospitality venue with a view of Maremma and the Isle of Giglio, Villa Talamo in Fonteblanda (Grosseto) was used to recreate the Minorca villa that Nunzio and grandma Giuliana rent for the wedding celebration.
The coast of the Argentario, instead, with its unique landscapes, was used for exterior shoots and marine views.
Minorca
Ciutadella
Ciutadella de Menorca is the main Minorcan location for Wealth at All Costs. The old town—the ancient capital of the island—with its characteristic narrow alleys where Arab and medieval architecture blend into a unique mix, is easily recognizable in many scenes of the comedy.
For example, grandma Giuliana chooses her wedding dress at a studio that is actually the headquarters of the Escuela Municipal de Música y Artes escénicas de Ciutadella on Plaça de la Catedral: just steps from here stands the magnificent Cattedrale di Santa Maria in Gothic-Catalan style with a Baroque façade, one of the city’s main attractions.
Just outside Ciutadella lies another unmissable location for the film: the Pedreres de s’Hostal, quarries used until the 1990s and today transformed into a true labyrinth of stone where exhibitions, performances, concerts, and theatrical productions are held.
The Cavalleria Lighthouse
Moving further north on the island, some scenes, such as those in which the family gathers to discuss the actual feasibility of the plan, were filmed at the Far de Cavalleria: a lighthouse in Es Mercadal reached at the end of a narrow, winding path with many curves but breathtaking views (the Carretera Caminades Far) from which one enjoys a unique sunset.
Son Bou
The Netflix comedy’s happy ending with Christian De Sica and Angela Finocchiaro was filmed on the Platja di Son Bou: one of Minorca’s most beautiful beaches, located in the island’s southern zone where the eponymous tourist town lies, cherished for its crystal-clear water and the ample facilities ready for bathers, as well as for its proximity to a protected area of strong natural interest.
